This garden was a real joy to photograph. Tropically inspired, it has been carefully planned and planted by its loving owner. The design and layout create plenty of depth, inviting you to walk through and enjoy its calming sanctuary.
Plenty of height was required at this property in order to tell the story here. I wanted to show both the land belonging to the house and the surrounding countryside, both in good measure. By using the drone and photographing aerially, you can say a lot in one image. If my memory serves me correctly this was made at just at around sixty to seventy feet, and shows the private driveway leading to the property and its secluded setting.
This ultra cool outdoor pod immediately drew my attention when photographing this property. It's arcing structure really makes for a beautiful feature, whilst its design its coherent and beautiful, its also very practical. By using a longer lens here and framing it around moving leaves, I wanted to accentuate its circular design.
A neighbouring high wall directly opposite this property made photographing the front elevation from the ground practically impossible. Due to the length of this house even with my widest lens I couldn't get far enough back to show the whole width of the house, let alone any of the garage to the side. Begin the head scratching... but fortunately I had an idea. Standing in the neighbours garden (with permission!) I used my 30ft mast to get up and over the wall, and far enough back to show the whole width of the property. An added bonus of the extra height was showing the open aspect and views to the rear of this home.
Another option here this could have been to employ the drone, but the mast ensures the camera can be positioned close to any trees without the risk of collision.
The key for this month's photo was to link the kitchen and dining area of this spacious new build property, whilst also giving a window onto the garden. It's very easy to shoot too wide angle in this situation, which would add lens distortion and lose a realistic representation of the space. Getting up and over the table helped to give an overview of the room which hopefully someone will be encouraged to view!
I love it when good staging comes together with good light. I was lucky enough to have both here. I'm always grateful for a rare spell of sunshine in February, especially when most of my free time is spent checking the latest forecast. And no, I don't have any other hobbies! This dining area is part of a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room in a new build property. So hats off to the home builders and interior stylist here for making this an inviting place to be.
This month's photo of the month is of a sitting room in a home quite literally within a stone's throw of the historic Warwick Castle. The place was really tastefully adorned with beautiful interiors that didn't have to scream at you. The key here was adding a little artificial light to enhance the existing natural light from the window on the left. This would ensure the shadows would remain natural.
